diabolic diastolic

Sep. 7th, 2007 | 04:16 pm

The first week of school is over and i have never bean more stoked to go to class every day.
All the students in my nursing section seem pretty cool so far, and have already made that step to making me their facebook friend, a big step indeed.
I can't wait to purchase my first pair of scrubs, they is gonna be rad too.
Unfortunately Amanda, i don't think i can pull off wearing the black with skulls design we were so keen on, you know.. it might be a little morbid for the hospital setting:P
It's gonna be weird wearing real runners again, made of material that actually resists water penetration, but it'll probably be better on me back.
School is getting so ridiculously expensive; every semester fees go up and i nearly spent a grand on just books/equipment alone.
Thank goodness for student loans (booo they should be GRANTS) and education funds.
I'll probably apply to as many bursaries as I can this year cause working for sufficient funds with this course load doesn't seem possible.
Ah well, at least i can go to school in general right?

Today was 50's/60's day at the nursing home, and i got to do the twist with some adorable oldies!
I also met the most amazing lady, 97! but doesn't look a day over 60..
She talked my ear off about her 6 children, 15 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren:S
She told me how "mad and wicked" hitler was and how she had to live in a bomb shelter..(also slipped in that Hitler was gay and had a secret wedding)
hmm..
Anyways, she was awesome and just had a birthday for which she had a hot air balloon ride!
I told her sky diving is where it's at and she said one day if she could sneak away from her kids she would strap herself to a 'hunk' and go tandem style.
I can only hope to be that ridiculous at her age.

Everything is going well, i miss miss miss my monthly trips to the valley, but i also love Victoria and all it's new valley residents (who i am going to visit this weekend!).. but still i do miss those stars.

home away from home

Jul. 17th, 2007 | 05:18 pm

Being away from home for 11 days was quite the experience.
Amy and I left for the island early thursday morning and met David on the bus up to the comox valley..
Music Fest!
The boogie zone was the place to be, so many crocs, so much tie dye, so many bad dancers.
Crunchy grooves.
David and I camped there from friday to sunday with daily visitors including Miker, Brendan, Taylor, Kaleigh, Amy, Bridget, Amanda, Justin, Vanessa and Morgan.
A seriously sweet bunch of dudes.
Some wicked performers included John Jorgenson, Hayley Sales, Don Mclean(really only American Pie which Adam totally thought was a cover) and Bedouin Soundclash.
Amanda and I got to the front for bedouin which was awesome and held our own against the 15 year old girls on their big night out.
It was hot, damn hot.
The stars outside of David's house were the brightest and the sky was the clearest i had ever seen, amazing.
we got the beat Collapse )
Then David and I went to Victoria!
His Mums drove us down and kindly pointed out everything i needed to see on the way there. (this being my first time south of Nanaimo)
Got to David (Matt and Amy's) new pretty pretty place and settled in for a bit before goin out to spinnakers in vic west for dinner with his uncle Doug.
Tofu burger, yup.
Walked down by the inner harbour for a bit and took some
touristy pictures Collapse )
(of course) before meeting Amy amerson at work and walkin' home.
The next few days consisted of fun domestic stuff like laundry, grocery shopping, unpacking, cleaning and cooking.. i actually enjoyed that a lot.
Of course, David took me to all the pretty parts of Victoria being the tourist that i am, and we also did some shopping.
No ice cream places in down town Vic sell mint chocolate chip ice cream.
I had my first fish and chips meal ever (awesome, so awesome.)
Mark, Justin, Meghan, Kate and Mat came down from the valley for Ska Fest, so we hit up a free show and then headed to Big Bad johns for some cheap pints and lots of peanuts.
Amanda and Cam came down friday night and played some wii before heading out to the rocks with the gorgeous view Collapse )
to drink and listen to Andy's wicked mix of music on his boom box.

My tolerance is getting excellenty low.
Cam got locked out of the apartment til 8:30 in the morning, what a trooper.
Breakfast at John's place was awesome and then the Reid's broke my heart and left.
Saturday was nice and relaxing and then we went to the Ska fest finale show, enjoyed the mad caddies and neville staple.
Sunday was bittersweet, said goodbye to my loverlies and Justin and I headed back to Vancouver.

Can't wait to go back.

"he stalks you through newsfeed"

music: CCR

i mum just bought a brand new stereo so lately i have been waking up to classic rock and soft favorites which is terribly fun, so right now i am comtemplating whether i really HAVE seen the rain..

anyways, the last few days have been pretty eventful albeit tiring.
Twas Brock's birthday wednesday, and althought i wasn't up for the cambie, (something i haven't really been up for in a while) Melissa and I took him out friday night to git some ridiculously good/expensive beer.
From one extreme to the next, you might say.
And that theme continued that night when we went to Castle Grey Skull's cd release show at Pub 340. Amazing show, those boys really know how to git a crowd goin, and the sounds that come outta that lil guy's mouth, jeez.

It was really fun, a lot based on the fact that most everyone i love was there, just like old times.. the one's that weren't were on the island with the rest of my loverlies..

It was just like tourrrr last feb, but differen't.
A lot of this year is quite differen't from last, friendships is big one, relationships, just people in general'n'while some changes are well received others are just plain sad..
but anyways, what can ya do when ya live in a shoe?

Saturday night was wicked as well, spent way too much time in MAC for sara but that's okay haha it's fun watching people get made up.
Cleaned out my closet, gettin' rid of two bags full of shizznit!
Melissa came to git me and we headed to the most "indie" show i've ever been to, pretty much in a lil living room place on main (nuff said) featuring colour book and cobras cobras cobras!
It was sooo much fun, i absolutely loved it.
Brock was featured on drum/bass for a few songs and it was really cute to watch.
Then i headed to Lisa's house party and got mmm drunk? i guess.. off vodka, yuck.
My camera was taken from me and i got it back with the line " you better make these a facebook album or elseeee"
meh.
It's sunday and i am ignoring my phone for one day.
It's Leila resty time.
june thus farCollapse )

i get like this.

Jun. 11th, 2007 | 04:45 pm

Yesterday i went outside
With my momma's mason jar
Caught a lovely butterfly
When I woke up today
Looked in on my fairy pet
She had withered all away
No more sighing in her breast

I'm sorry for what I did
I did what my body told me to
I didn't mean to do you harm
Everytime I pin down what I think I want it slips away
The goal slips away.

Smell you on my hand for days
I can't wash away your scent
If I'm a dog then you're a bitch
I guess you're as real as me
Maybe I can live with that
Maybe I need fantasy
Life of chasing butterfly

I'm finding it way to hard to concentrate in class.

"DON'T"

May. 22nd, 2007 | 08:57 pm

i was going to do a picture post, but all of you must have seen the debaucherous/lovely/gross/spectacular! pictures from last weekend.
Had so much fun on the island as per usual..
Thursday, got there pretty late.. David's awesomely rad parents opened up their home to me and GOD i love buddy.
Friday was sweeet.. David and I met up with my favorite twin brothers, matt, thomas, gaby, justin, and hung out in town for a while before David and I enjoyed a delicious and spicy-ass meal at Tita's YUM

Spotted Miker, Mikey, Eric and lady at the liquor store, got the exorcist, wine ( a great combo) and eventually headed to The Ron's for his birthday barbeque. Twas funny that Ron's bday consisted of all Aidan's friends but anyhoo, met up with Jamie, Sara and Aidan there and drank around a nice blinding fire.

The Lewis' got drunk it was awesome to see.

After a while, we all headed to the Powell River ferry beach and started our own fire with more drankin'. Katelyn and Cory came out as well!
David and Jamie played their geeetars whilst justin and I sang some sublime and mmmm weezer.
Annnd they played Layla!, which was pretty much the best rendition ever.
The fire marshall came and told us to put out the fire soon, so we enjoyed it a while before it went out..
I slightly remember wrestling sara and (PS)winning.. haha and the mike's wrastling on the logs leading to fat messery.. I know I met some rad people and had a blast and thats all I care to worry about.
Jamie was kind enough to take us home, in exchange for baby bels and triscuits.
Saturday, David and I hung out all day and Jamie and Donnie came over for a while to jam, which was sweet to watch. I know some talented people, thats for damn sure.
Had a scrumtralescent dinner with the Burnett's and watched the exorcist finally..BUT the better movie was definitely Mortified starring a few of my island favorites.
Sunday Mr and Mrs B drove me to Nanaimo, and i got there in perfect time for once!
awesome.

starsstarsstars i want them.
All in all another amazing island adventure.

Little darlin' it's been a long cold lonely winter
Little darlin' it feels like years since it's been here
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
And I say it's all right
Little darlin' the smiles returning to their faces
Little darlin' it seems like years since it's been here
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
And I say it's all right
Little darlin' I feel the ice is slowly meltin'
Little darlin' it seems like years since it's been clear
Here come the sun, here comes the sun
